Habitat:Open fields, meadows and moist, disturbed soil. Like its Eurasian cousin, purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus), yellow nutsedge is destructive to crops in sunny, open fields and moist, disturbed soil, robbing neighboring plants of nutrients with long, invasive roots.
